GreenPort Congress returns for its 21st edition on 7–9 October 2026, hosted by Portsmouth International Port in its carbon-neutral terminal. Portsmouth is aiming for net zero port operations by 2035, which makes it a fitting place to talk about the gap between decarbonisation targets and what happens on the quayside.
Shore power is where a lot of that ambition meets reality. Connecting a vessel quickly, safely and repeatedly is an engineering problem before it is an environmental one — cable weight, reach, berth geometry, and crews who need the connection to work the same way every time.
Andreas Södergran is attending all three days. If you are planning shore power at your port, or working out why the last project took longer than expected, he is the one to find.
