“They know their stuff really well”

Zinus has completed commissioning of the charging system to the first of five Amsterdam passenger vessels, and the yard is happy with the result.

In 2020, Holland Shipyards Group awarded Zinus the contract of supplying five electric passenger vessels with fully automatic charging systems, including a total of 10 onboard SWC100 charging connections and six ZPP700 onshore charging posts. Zinus’ delivery will help the city of Amsterdam to reach ambitious sustainability goals by fast charging the vessels within only two and a half minutes. This enables 24/7 fully electric operation of the ferries while servicing three ferry routes in the Dutch capital.

Zinus has now completed commissioning of the charging system for the first newbuild, and the yard is happy with the result.

“The technical team on the ground is fabulous. They know their stuff really well and have managed to fix a lot of challenges along the route“ Marco Hoogendoorn, Director of Holland Shipyards Group, states.

“Also, to Zinus’ credit: They always make an effort to keep communication going and open. I think this really speaks for them!” Hoogendoorn adds.

Earlier this year, the yard handed over the first of the five vessels to the end customer GVB – a Dutch public transport provider. Vessel number two, including the charging system from Zinus, is schedules for handover during 2021.
